In comparison to humanity's rate of acquiring new technology that evolution has become stagnant. When will natural processes produce humans who never age or never die or never hunger? Our society is based on servants, we have servants that produce food and servants that cure the sick and so on. These experiments are not just muscle spasms, it's controlled inorganic machinery interfacing with organic machines, Yes flapping moths does't look impressive but it's what comes out from this that is.

Mankind has never stopped evolving, it's in the nature of DNA to evolve, and we dont need servants anyway, never did,. Apart from that , your not remaking mankind your sticking electrodes in insects in order to make muscle spasms occur. I did a similar thing with a nine volt battery , two wires and a cut off frogs leg in biology class of secondary school
Just a question , whats the overall cost of the project so far?

To end such suffering. The struggle to overcome poverty, sickness, and hunger that is the human condition will continue even if these issues are addressed temporarily. The cure is to transcend our conflict by evolving. Research like this does not end with the creation of servants for ourselves, it results with us not needing servants. We are remaking ourselves.

Whats the point of making the second man?
The world is full of people, a great majority of which live in dire poverty so if your looking for cheap workers there they are.

no make them indestrubtible AND SEND THEM OUT TO WAR! :P people should fight with robots instead of people or they could play a game of human chess instead of tons of bombs blowing up on you :P
