This is ALIEN's most talked about deleted scene because it provides an otherwise undisclosed insight into the life cycle of the creature. After discovering the bodies of Parker and Lambert, Ripley makes an startling discovery.

Alien 5 being a prequel confirmed-:
http://www.totalfilm.com/news/alien-5... ''It's actually a prequel movie that will explain the origins of the space jockey spaceship.''

Plot:
The story begins when the crew of the commercial transport ship Nostromo receive a transmission which might be of nonhuman origin.

They land on the deserted moon Acheron LV-426 and find a derelict spaceship with a dead alien and many large eggs.

Directed by Ridley Scott

I recommend the High Quality version

If you wanted to reconcile the two films, you could argue that this was an alternative stage in the life cycle. We know that the aliens adapt their form depending on what host they inhabit, so it's possible that a worker/warrior could also adapt to reproduce when isolated from the queen (like fish or amphibian species where one specimen changes sex if necessary).

I mean, I know that the REAL reason was creative differences between the two directors, but it's fun to speculate...

    Yakoh is right.

In a colony with other Xenomorphs and a Queen, Drones do not turn cocooned prey into eggs.

    - However - if one Drone is isolated and by itself, then it can very much convert cocooned prey into eggs, to create a new nest.

Actually, according to known information on the Saga - that is exactly how it works.

A Drone can become a Queen if need be, and a Facehugger can impregnate a host with an embryo that will become a Queen - in order to ensure continuation of the species.

Obviously you know nothing about how the life cycle of the alien was going to be before James Cameron directed Aliens, and to top it all you're really rude, so please GTFO, I'm not wasting my time arguing with you.

This was before the xenomorph life cycle was established in Aliens. Ridley Scott had a different view of the life cycle compared to James Cameron. Having this scene cut allowed for additional speculation. The humans are being turned into eggs.

"They're cocooned because the alien is turning the humans into eggs"

You are talking nonsense! If you watched Alien movies then you should know that matrix legs eggs.

So the original concept was the Lurker Alien cocooned the humans and turned them into eggs regardless if they were alive or not?
