Shes asks "Why???" It's great that she can actually comprehend what she is reading and is not just sounding out individual words. Then she has the wherewithal to ask why. She's putting the puzzle together in her mind. That will stay with her throughout her life. Awesome! I was 28 months old when I learned to read. This was my first book, and I actually remember reading this book at 2 yrs old. Everyone should teach their children to read before they enter the "system." Give them a head start!

Oh my goodness! This is amazing. You are so good with her. I am sending you all of my children when I have them so you can teach them. She is doing so well. She's so patient for three. Most kids her age would have done it for about a minute pushed the book down and got up. "Wa i thhhh-With!" "Why did he put the gum on the drum?" So precious. Thank you for sharing this with me!!! She's growing up too fast.

LOL. The neurologist would have his hands full if all of the not-yet-reading preschoolers went to him for a checkup--and were then pronounced perfectly NORMAL! :)

Santosh, I've been thinking about your comment and thought I'd reply: I didn't initially set out to teach Susie to read, but she figured it out, partly because she's always LOVED books so was self-motivated to try to read. I think the #1 literacy-building activity has been simply reading TONS of books to her and tracing my finger under the words when reading. Eventually we added phonics exploration using fridge magnets, keeping it fun. As long as you're reading to Adam, he's developing literacy!
