I uncycled my Aquaripure on my 29g FW tank in order to demonstrate what happens when the Aquaripure cycles. I performed 3 nitrate tests. One in the tank when it had nitrates but the Aquaripure was cycled. I also performed a nitrate test on the effluent of the Aquaripure at that time. I then performed a nitrate test in the tank 3 weeks later when the nitrates had dropped to zero in the tank.

Should I stop using my protein skimmer if I bought this unit?

You do not need to use a skimmer with the Aquaripure. I think in lightly stocked systems it is better to remove the skimmer. In heavily stocked systems I think they might be of some benefit to keep it on. Personally I no longer use a skimmer as I find them messy and I prefer to just use the Aquaripure.

Pretty good video, you were quite meticulous with it. Except where you put the second bottle drops into the aquaripure vile, it was out of camera at 6:30

Yes, it was just an accident that I moved out of view for a few seconds.

Do you have to inject CO2 into the aquarium to achieve that kind of plant growth? I have a 180 gal. tank eco-complete substrate( 13 bags) = (Ka-ching!! OUCH) Coralife light, and a wet-dry filter w/bio-balls , plus a whisper hang-on. Still cant get plants to grow well, way to much algae growth , and i do 30-50 gallon water change twice a week. Lights have been cut down to about 4-6 hours a day now for 3 months or so. Fish are good , Plants NO ! Any suggestions?

The effluent of the Aquaripure is high in CO2 and so no additional CO2 injection is recommended when you use the Aquaripure. I recommend some "AMANO" shrimp. They do a really great job cleaning algae in a planted tank. A couple of dozen should do the trick for you. Drs Foster and Smith sell them for $3 each or so but they are well worth it.

I recommend just using standard 80 proof drinking vodka or alternately you can use Grenadine syrup as a carbon source. The nutrient stays in the Aquaripure filter and will be consumed by the bacteria while in the unit and so it is much safer than dosing the tank itself (which is quite risky.)

What is the additives made from?

Is it a different type of carbon dosing?

FYI, I only did maybe a single 3g water change between April 1 and April 21 during the normal course of cleaning the Aquarium and trimming the plants.
