Rare recording of two études de concert of Franz Liszt by Dinu Lipatti. Gnomereigen is in a set (1941) of Test Recordings Bucharest including Brahms's Intermezzo op. 116 no 2, Bach, Chorale "Jesus bleibet meine Freude", Scarlatti's Sonata Longo 387, Chopin's Etude op. 10 n. 5, Schumann's Sympinic Etude op. 13 N. 9 and this Gnomenreigen.
Second recording (London, 1947) is a copy of a studio BBC Recording. This copy of "La Leggierezza" is not complete (missing the first two bars).

  • i didn't hate it

  • Once I had a chat with Georg Vasarhelyi. He told me that he attended a concert with Lipatti in Switzerland in his young days. He said "I don't recall one tone of that concert. But I recall that the concert stage with Lipatti was one huge clear LIGHT!". Yes, we almost SEE the light when listening to Lipatti!!

  • Such a light touch!!

  • que desgracia con la pesima calidad de las grabaciones rumanas. La extrema pobreza de este pais es capaz de destrozar a este genial interprete mediante su descuido...

  • @billyguns2

"greatest pianist/musician" well put up, he was the greatest exponent of no compromise between the 2.

  • We get the character of the music under Lipatti's sublime playing, which is also technically astounding but doesn't draw attention to the mechanics; Lipatti was just the greatest pianist/musician I ever heard. As always, there is a touching sincerity and vulnerability to his playing that is quite special, with no "quirks" or strange accents or voice leadings. He is my role model.

  • Simon Barere owns Gnomenreigen.

  • One word - Miraculous!.

  • i didn't know wwe had him n this repertoire lucky to have his Chopin nocturne. His e flat cocncerto.2 world wars and we have a lot really for so young a performer. The lightness and clarity here and characterized perfectly!

  • @alinwwedxcena Piesa, sau interpretarea? de piesa ar trebui sa fii mandru daca ai fi ungur! :-)
