@bigdonkey002 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!! :)

I agree with the comments about the tempo - too fast. But taken as a whole Gergiev's cycle of the Mahler Symphonies is extremely good - about the best I'd say. The LSO produce an exceptional sound.

This conductor seems to like to push the tempo and many of the pieces loose their groove when they're played too fast.

you guys keep complaining about the tempo....but really? do you honestly think valery gergiev(a russian) is going to take it slow?
-
I DETEST MUSIC WHEN IT'S PLAYED TOO FAST - THE ADVANTAGE ON THIS PIECE IS THAT IT IS OVER THAT MUCH QUICKER. (IT IS RUBBISH)

WOOT! Eb CLARINET FOR THE WIN!! :D

"in ruhig fliessender Bewegung"? i don't think so - this is too fast and nervous. p.s. Gergiev has terrible technique (his hands etc.). Don't get me wrong, he is a world class, but i don't like this one.. (For this Scherzo, Klemperer and Philharmonia Orchestra are phenomenal )
