I am Eric Liebman, Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Izumo-shi, Japan. In December 2009, I returned home to New York for winter vacation ("Fuyu Yasumi"). I made this video and showed it to my students in January 2010; they range in age from 10 to 15.

出雲市の外国語指導助手のエリック・リーブマンは冬休みの時にニューヨークに帰りました。このビデオを作ると、彼の生徒たちに見せた;生徒たちの年齢は十才から十五才までです。

I tried to show my students a little bit about myself and about New York, in the context of my trip home for winter holidays.

If you make a movie, you can then give an oral or written quiz about your film, or make it into a game, which is what I did. For example, I asked "How many Santas were in the film?" and "I ate goubou chips at a Japanese restaurant. What is the name of the Japanese restaurant?" (Most of the questions were multiple choice.

Peace to all and best of luck in bridging the gap between cultures. We are all one, some of us just don't know it yet. :()

  • 6:12 THAT IS ONE PISSED OFF SANTA! - Thank you for this video, as like you, I love Japan and want to work and live there for a part of my life. I also happen to love New York and had 5 trips there. The people and mix of culture is amazing!

  • @ssssuperchen ---- Many thanks! I want to see what it inspires next, from the amazing Superchen! :)

  • Amazing!!! It was so great to join you on your vacation, if not in person, then very close to it with this video. And I was astounded to see that you had done the music as well - I had assumed it was a band and was going to ask you who it was! And I loved all the funny bits too, like the weird knish cartoon, and all the familiar faces. Inspiring!
