Snowflake, who was born in December in Schmausenbuck Zoo, got her first bath earlier this week. According to her keepers, she smelt very fresh afterwards -- apparently something of a novelty for the otherwise smelly cub.

On Tuesday she was given her first bone to gnaw on, to celebrate her three-month birthday. Snowflake's keepers also allowed the bear to go outside for the first time on Tuesday, but in a private open-air enclosure not accessible to the public.

According to Nuernberger Zoo, the little furball should be ready for her first public appearance in early April, if she continues to develop at her current rate. The city of Nuernberg is getting ready for the big event (more...) and is even offering various travel packages for bear fans. The "Visit Snowflake the Polar Bear" package, for example, includes up to three nights' accommodation, free entry to the zoo and a slap-up bratwurst meal (Nürnberger Rostbratwürstel) at a restaurant in Nuernberg's old town.
