After enduring lengthy waits for the federal government to approve new prescription drugs, Canadian patients all too often discover that their provincial drug plans will not pay for these new medicines. It takes more than 14 months, on average, for Health Canada to approve new medicines as safe and effective. And while private insurers will immediately cover those medicines, the provinces can take up to another year to decide if they will pay for the same drugs. This combination of federal and provincial decision-making creates delays or, more often, results in new drugs being unavailable to some patients.
I'm not too entirely sure why I got 2 thumbs down.

Which is what I just said.

The FDA itself is the problem. FDA is a tyrannical bureaucracy that restricts free commerce and denies choices to American citizens.

Some might criticize the US for their high drug prices but they have their fair share of problems with the FDA. FDA restricts life saving drugs from getting into the market thus, not only killing patients in the process but skyrocketing prices as well.
