OK, OK ..... I know. The stove videos I have been pumping out are getting redundant but I have soooo many yet to film!
I may have just found the perfect "Breakfast From The Hammock" stove . The Trangia! http://www.trangia.se/english/2924.mini_trangia.html
Just take off the lid and light. May have to prime in real cold but I will find out by having it in my pocket with the fuel in it! What a feature. The stove is brass and strong. A wee bit heavier than some alcohol stoves but at 3.95 ounces it is hard to really complain. The pros outweigh the cons. Don't like the stand that comes with it .... will make one of hardware cloth. Simmers wonderfully with the simmer/snuffer lid on. Carry fuel in it! Terrific.
Boiled 2 cops of cold aqua in the SnowPeak Titanium 700 Pot/Mug.
Tests will continue ....... but I was lucky to have my droll expert Curtice King come by to test fly it.
All secure in sector seven,
Shug and Curtice.

  • Just ordered this burner, planning to make a portable wind shield-lightweight for hiking. A test was made of distance from trangia top to pot cooking surface and the best was 38mm,1-1/2" for speed of boil.

  • @iUbookz Burn on....enjoy it.

  • When I bought my Trangia it came with three aluminum sheets that act as a stand and wind proofer.

  • @thebudgetgamer Much better than the stand in my video....I never use that one that came with mine.

  • That is exactly the system I use

  • @novascotiansurvival A Classic bit of kit.

  • @simonettavespucci Well ... The last vid you listed (the mod vid) has made me realize something and inspired me to make a mod of my own ... (1) If I ditch the flask, I will be able to store the Trangia burner inside the chimney, during transport ... and ... (2) Without the flask, I can also sore an empty "soup" (type) can (inverted) and use the bottom of the empty soup can as an elevated platform for sterno or ESBIT cubes, etc., without performing any "surgery".

  • @phrankus2009 Yes, the standard Trangia burner fits into the Volcano stove:

    /watch?v=pwPb-oOu1jc ... or ... /watch?v=nL34-EdCJGc

    And here is a modification:

    /watch?v=mm9jg4aiiMw

However, you probably can't use the simmer option.

  • @shugemery Drats! ... I shoulda ordered the Trangia Mini ... This is how we get collections of stoves.

So ... Now I still want a Trangia Mini *and* and Emberlit Titanium (better than the Vargo Hex ... check it ! ). ... and ... I am totally sure that the Standard Size Trangia *will* work great, with the Emberlit (given proper elevation ... proper proximity to the pot).

  • @phrankus2009 I think it would be tough to get it in there.
