@behenkabhai i am assuming you are referring to pandit divyang vakil. i really wonder what you know about him as you have gone around making uninformed comments. perhaps you should first meet him. he is a true maestro. his understanding of music is incredible. he did not give up performing because it was more lucrative..you can easily teach AND perform (as many do). there is obviously something more if he doesn't perform at all... know your facts before you make comments...

Some tabla players "stop performing" and dedicate themselves to teaching. Of course, the virtue is diluted by the fact that teaching is more lucrative than peforming - especially in the US and especially if you aren't doing too well in your performing career. Regardless, a welcome change to see the gujju public revelling in saadhana than simply counting greenbacks.
