  • Hi, I was impressed at the care you have with the negative. I liked it. But then in the end I saw that you are using an epson v700. i thought you were using a drum scanner :) I wanted to ask you, how does the epson v700 perform? Is it really good, or not. I read a lot of negative reviews on the internet but I don't know if it's because people don't know how to do it right and properly like you are doing. I would be interested in hearing your opinion if you use it often with big negatives.

  • @elmexicanoeuropeo Thanks for your comment.

The Epson V700 performs very well considering the price, expecially for 4x5" film.

Using resolution charts, we measured about 2300 x 3100 spi of actual maximum resolving power.

Performances are even better for BW film, since one may use the Blue channel only, achieving some 10% better resolving power (Blue channel is the best one for this scanner). Read more...

  • @elmexicanoeuropeo If you plan to use it with larger than 4x5", though, you'll have to use the lower-resolution lens (V700 has two lenses) and lay the film directly on the glass bed.

The final result is a hit to resolving power, which goes down to about 1600 x 2500 spi.

  • @elmexicanoeuropeo You may want to have a look at our V700 review in 3w effeunoequattro net

It's in italian, but illustrations may be of interest to you, nonetheless.

  • Thanks for your feedback, very kind of you.

Unfortunately we don't have the time to record our tutorials in English too.

  • English is not the only idiom in the world, you know... this video

tutorial is aimed at italian-speaking people.

    Take care.

  • is it possible to apply this method on V500 ?

    many thanks.

  • Thank you for showing us how to wet mount, though I'm hoping to get away with dry mounting most of my slides, wet mounting might have to be an option for me also!

    Thanks

    Erwin

  • Thank you for this. Even though I don't speak Italian, it is fairly simple to make out the steps, especially with the interspersed product names.

  • WTF?! English pleeeaaaase!
