Just another how-to video on how to overclock my current motherboard, the Asus Crosshair V Formula. I take my processor from stock 3.2 GHz in this video to 4.3 GHz, and show you how to do it.

  • I didn't simply just crank the multiplier because I wanted a mix between overclocking my CPU and my memory, not just my cpu. And yes, I have heard of no problems using an AM3 cooler on an AM3 socket. I just installed my FX 8 core chip, and will be making another video shortly, highlighting some overclocking techniques.

  • In this video yes, I believe I just open AI SUITE really quick to see what its at. I use a couple different programs at any given time, but I'm not going to lie, I do love the suite that Asus gives you with that motherboard. Although, there are some arguments out there that this may not be super accurate, but it has always worked great for me :)

  • You will absolutely see a performance gain. Remember, having a higher clock speed on less cores is always going be less efficient and fast than more cores and slightly less clock speeds. Good part choices, it should scream for you!

  • For everyday use I tone it down, usually to 4.0, but in the case that I might leave it that high, I have never experienced any problems. Temps are great, and yes, overclocking has been know to make the parts last marginally less than at stock speeds, but nothing signifigant.

  • Check out my channel, I've got a full spec. video on what I'm currently running, and my temps during a 12 hour run of prime 95 never saw a temp over 55, 56 degrees. :)

  • You are very welcome! You won't be dissapointed with your parts, they make a great combo.

  • what about 4.5 on air

  • can u make one ass if u was running on air cool and im new to this so the more u say the best

  • @LCNismo Question is, do you wanna overclock JUST CPU to the FULL computer?

If you wanna do the full computer you bump up the HT/FSB.

As you saw, he showed his RAM is running 25% faster as well cause the FBS bump

  • I have to use 1.52V to make it work on 4.02GHz

how the hell u put lower Voltage and higher speed lol weird xD

  • whats your timings i got a gskill ripjaw 8gb

  • What is latensy? (srry for being dumb)

  • @JSpecMugen Yup it's been a while i got them. But instead of corsair ram i got Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 1600 cause it's a good overclocker. I also changed my PSU cause 600 watt was unable to get enough current for a good overclock so now i got an Enermax 720watt and i'm getting a cooler master 1000watt soon. With my little air cooler i am able to OC my 1100T to 4.1ghz easy without overheat. But i'm looking for the FX 8150 to get something a bit better.

  • @wolvid I bought the exact same parts -- while I can't tell you if you'll see the difference between your C2D setup... With the 1600MHz vengence line, you'll only get to about 4.1GHz OC'ed (at least that's my best stable w/water cooler)

Let me know how you got on, as I'm assuming you've picked up new components by now.

  • I've pretty much got the same cpu and the same mobo and the same ram. I discovered that my 1600's were running at 1333 and the closest I can get to 1600mhz is 1546 in the memory frequency setting or go above that which is 1856 and I can't find any way to manually enter 1600mhz.

I haven't got the cooling capablities to overclock as you mention, atm so I'll leave that alone for the time being but I just wanna get my ram to run at the full frequency that they are supposed to.

  • cara, estou a dias tentando masi que os 3.8GHz num conjunto com Crosshir V formula , 2x2GB DDR3 Corsair dominator GT 2000MHz, EVGA GTX570 1280MB DDR5 , Cooler Master V8 , Corsait TX750W , Logitech G15 , OCZ Equalizer Mouse , Gabinete Huntkey H201 .

man, I'm trying to day that masi 3.8GHz with a set formula V Crosshairs, 2x2GB Corsair Dominator GT 2000MHz DDR3, EVGA GTX570 1280MB DDR5, Cooler Master V8, Corsait TX750W, Logitech G15, Mouse OCZ Equalizer, Office Huntkey H201.
