You realised that the turtle ship plays a diiferent role from the dutch ship? Comparing the two is like comparing the difference between apple and orange...
The turtle ship was developed as a desperate measure for a desperate situation and it works. That in it itself is brilliant.

I've seen a replica of a turtle ship, and these things were the wooden ironclads of their day.
They were damn slow with crappy sails, but the oar team could row like mad for a few minutes at a time making the ship able to sprint and turn on a dime.
Still, IMO as cool as these were, they were nothing compared to the Portuguese ships of the time like the Victoria that was fast and able to circumnavigate the globe and with its broadside of canon would make mincemeat of these ships.

@DumbDuck44 true, but Japan and Korea did not ever have to compete with European vessels. There just wasn't enough arms race to cause them to build such gigantic warships. Even turtle ships were practically invincible to the Japanese fleets, as they didn't make use of cannons and the Japanese only used matchlock muskets. These muskets could penetrate shit and the turtle ships and panokseons provided good covers.
