I made this for another youtube channel intended to be an educational show on Animation history. However, with the switch to Google accounts it was difficult to keep up and eventually I deleted the account, before anyone had really gotten to see it.

Anyway, this was a labor of love for me trying to find all the visual elements, scouring the internet and my animation books for dates and facts, and assembling them in a coherent and yet still entertaining way. I sped up my voice because at normal speed it was just taking too long to fit in the 10 minute cap.

I hope you enjoy it and learn a little bit about the history of Cel Animation!

  • Fun fact: Pixar was created by Lucasfilm

This is facsinating. I love all these movies. interesting to know so much more about animation. Glad I follow you on Deviant Art

  • @spidermanandsnape I was aware of that and thought briefly of mentioning it, but since Pixar wasn't the focus of this video I decided against it.

  • Is it you talking?

  • @thildaIIihp a sped-up me, yes.

  • Wow u teach me more in a 7 minute video than they teach me in a year of school

  • Very totally interesting for me as a artist, cartoonist, sketch artist and new upcoming animator.

Very wonderful lesson for us young artists and animators.

  • Incredibly educational and interesting! Thank you!

  • What's that program at 6:53

  • @spidermanandsnape not quite correct....

George Lucas was just another wealthy financier for Ed Cartmul and Alvy Ray Smith vision of computer animated film. It was their vision and started at the New York Institute of Technology financed by Alexander Schure :)

  • great bit of education! Thanks, buddy! ;)

  • @iheartchocolate198 I could draw all day if I had the skills and tools to do it! I love how the animators can switch between animating on ones/twos and sometimes threes! Doing it seamlessly is the key!

  • Hey everyone on deviantART, I made theanimatorreference(dot)deviantart(dot)com if you're interested in contributing. :)

  • this video just made me want to watch the rescuers, little mermaid, aladdin, 101 dalmations and several other old disney films again.

also made me alot more interested in animation....(even though i could never draw worth crap and would never even attempt to, said interested in animation, not wanting to attempt it, music is still my forte)

  • @TomPreston6 I was gonna say that; the portrayal of yourself in SYAC doesn't quite match the voice of this video. I always thought your voice would be more close to the Nostalgia critic's.
