Here in Cali, a Democratic Governor like Brown himself is going against unions for the same reasons Republicans are opposed to it: unionized workers demanding higher salaries for nothing, retiring younger than the average person, them engaging in poorer quality work, not willing to be aware of their conduct in the workplace, seeking special handouts, them wanting to establish their own rules, and jeoparding others chances of having it fair in the workplace.
@compa008 Let me give you a reality check about the ability of union to "manipulate free market wages". My dad was a miner back in the 70s and 80s, at the time ore prices were at all time highs, even good by todays stanards. And yet my dad still had to fight like hell every couple years at contract time for a $.25 raise. The company was making record profits, but they still didn't wanna give a measely quarter an hour. It's a different picture than the one you painted eh?
@compa008 Are you saying that you're skill level is anywhere near to mine? Are you saying that you can do my job? I hate to be the one to break this to you, but working on a farm as a kid doesn't exactly give you the skills to work on coal fired/Nuclear power plants. If it did every farm raised kid in this country would be a skilled craftsman. If you took your job to move up then why are you crying about it?
@compa008 Are you telling me that the 10% of the US workforce that is Union is dragging down/holding back the whole American economy? You gonna blame all the non union jobs going overseas on Unions too?
@compa008 You work at a bank, paper cuts are your biggest danger.lol. I walk steel 200ft in the air, I climb like a monkey with 70 lbs of tools on my harness. You've never known what is like to actually put your life on the line have you. If your job is so critical and takes so much skill why do they pay you so little? What exactly do you do at that bank that is so special?
@nktank84 You think this is selfishness? Don't you think it's selfishness that you make 10-40% more income to that of people of similar skill level? Not because your better, but because your union bullies non-union workers and business? Maybe it's all the hard work and low pay growing up that made me immune to this bullshit commonly brought up by unions. I want the economy to boom, when it does that every industry will improve.
@nktank84 The problem is that unions drag an economy down. They manipulate free market wages/labor.....cartels do the same thing. They hurt economies. If we deunionized every single industry our economy would be booming because companies and the US would be more competitive.
@nktank84 Obviously not lol. I work at the bank because I want to move up in that field. You start from the bottom and work up. We could compared the risks of each job (yes there are risks), but that's retarded. I could make that money back on the family farm, hell there is no child labor laws protecting farm children when I was growing up so don't give me this 110 degree stuff, they know the risk.
@compa008 I do have one question that I think is important for you to answer. How does it benefit you to drag down another man who works hard for his pay? Do you realize how selfish this makes you? You could go out and get a better job, you're skilled, you said so yourself. But you haven't, have you? What a paradox.lol. I only wish you worked in KS or MO so I could come in and you and your college diploma could serve me. ;)
@compa008 No I think I get your point. You wanna work 9-5 in a bank in a perfectly safe, and comfortable environment and make as much as a man working in 110 degrees on a road crew with death staring him into the face as dumbass drivers fly by at 70 mph. And you think that your college degree entitles you to it. You can't do his job or else you'd be doing it. No more than you could do my job. Honestly, if you could be making $2,000 a week (clear money) right now you would be doin it.
