"On February 6, 2008 Jim DeMint was joined by Saxby Chambliss, Tom Coburn, John Cornyn, James Inhofe, and David Vitter in the Senate to introduce the Semper Fi Act of 2008 which would strip federal funding from Berkeley, California in response to the Berkeley Marine Corps Recruiting Center controversy. The bill would have stripped $2.1 million in earmarks for the city and the University of California, Berkeley and would have instead directed the funds to the Marine Corps Recruiting Fund. His actions were reprimanded by both the House and Senate leadership as divisive and unnecessary. His bill was defeated by a 74-25 vote." - Wikipedia
The look of hatred on Brian Dennard's face as he promised to "bring this city to it's knees" has become an all to common sight in recent months as racists come to terms with that we the people elected our first African-American President.
Demint likes to fan the flames of hatred and fear and as we can see by his record, he's just not that good at it.
He is no match for Barack Hussein Obama II, the 44th President of the United States.

@GalaxyDaveD As I understand it, there are two political parties in the USA; Democrats and Republicans. From your comment I presume you would rather have the democrat party removed, leaving America as a one party state. Wouldn't that be rather like Soviet era Russia, Nazi Germany or Saddam's Iraq?

This was a show of support for tyhe marine recruiting station in the city.The city bureaucrats wanted to remove the marines from the city.

No. This was attempt by right wing extremists to "bring [an American] city to it's knees".
This type of ugly speech reached it's peak as Palin/McCain crashed and burned. The idea that some parts of the country are more American than other parts. Divided and not United.
Well it's over now. Melanie Morgan's publicity stunt failed. Berkeley, my home, is doing just fine. Time to move forward.
