should be renamed politics, politics, politics?
-
it certainly does, stem cell research for example, cloning...

keep religion out of politics, keep it in your heart and your families keep it out of mine

@Adlasyn ...however if one aquires enough capital through the shitty job that he holds he has a fighting chance of actually attaining something that you could never do under serfdom which is a govt principal. but anyways i understand your misunderstanding and grievances
-
@Adlasyn you absolutely have no concept of history, intellect, or fact.
sir you do not understand capatilism, free-market, fair-trade, mercentilism, communism, socialism, and guilds.
Capital distribution and aquisition is one of the reasons why youtube can continue to maintain itself and allow your ignorant voice to be heard. the enslavement of the weak by the strong is nothing new nor does it have anything to do with the free-market...

Doesn't the word "absurd" mean pointless?

The scientific process works like this:
Observation> Hypothesis> Experiment> Repeat experiment> Submit for peer review> Editor writes back> Revise the paper> Retest> Resubmit paper (10% of being published)> IF published> Other scientists (hoping to disprove) analyze your results for years, seeing if they get inconsistent results> After many years, the scientific community may except it> Theory
How is this not scientific in nature?
-
Evolution itself is a fact because it happens, there is literally no empirical evidence against it. The Theory of Evolution just deals with the process that evolution occurs, which hasn't been proven yet. What do you mean "not scientific in nature"? Its not philosophical at all, it is just a hypothesis that went through the scientific process and is now accepted by the scientific community. I mean, creationism is certainally philosophical in nature.

Oh, and evolution is a fact.
The theory of evolution is not a fact because some biologists think that life can evolve through a different process (for example, gene duplication).
Hope I've clarified everything for ya ;)

@HowTheWorldWorks I think you make some good points. But I think there is a fear of anti-intellectualism in the right wing. It may be more of an American problem then mostly the right wing, but it's scary for politicians to be all right with ignorance. Carl Sagan warned us about getting away with being ignorant with so much power. I'm not saying vote democrat, right now the economy is the issue and so far I think there's more chance that almost any republican is going to do better than Obama.
From 3:30 forward. I have to say, it's a travesty how "right-wing" has been combined with religious views in the US. Liberal has also been falsely tied to Leftist/planned economics. It's evidence of how politically ignorant and dumbed down the American public has become.

The thing that bothers me is that a lot of scientific issues, like global warming and evolution, are treated as political issues, and not scientific ones.
When people argue against evolution, it's because they're thinking about their religion, and even when they're not, people will assume they are.
Same with global warming. Most of the arguments against it aren't because of scientific inquiry, they're because of an opposition to liberals.
