This is as quick preview of a 2:25 hour long video series showing the production of the game "Dodge It" which can be found here:

http://www.goofygamer.com/games/flash/popular/300/Abbots-Dodge-It/

The video is for sale at http://www.callistek.com/store/ and is meant for beginners who want to get a feel for programming.

The game is made in Flex using ActionScript 3, however the programming concepts are the same as any language.

  • This looks very cool, but the problem is I dont know what kind of games I can make after doing the tutorial. I guess its a all round tutorial but i would like a bit more infomation. How far down the path does it teach? becasue im a programmer (not a good one) but thats why i might want to buy the tutorial, but i would hate to spend $10 learning everything I already know.

  • It teaches everything that is in the game, besides how to use 'animated' sprite sheets, and it also does not teach how to make particle effects like the system uses. The rest is included, things like 'detecting boundaries', 'movement', 'simple loops' etc. It is a beginners course. (hence the price) I am working on a new game, that will be a medium/advanced course... I can't really make a real advanced course, because that's kinda time consuming, I may do some concepts for advanced in the future.

  • You are right, however the course is 2.5 Hours. (lots of work put into putting together the video).

If this doesn't sell to well, I may put it up for free (or cheaper) once I get some of my bigger courses in.

I kinda need to sell a few, to get funding, in order to buy a camera and setup a 'class room' so I can draw what's in my head better than I can draw with my mouse. (game engine theories and stuff)
