Through Dec. 1, 2011, this exhibition, curated by Catherine Wilcox-Titus, will showcase work that reflects the complexities of global connections and examines their costs and benefits. "The Global Perspective," is the Gallery's response to WSU's theme semester, "Worcester and the World." The Theme Semester is designed to promote integrative learning and to foster a sense of community and shared purpose through a series of events, lectures and course offerings. Artists from all over the United States and Canada have represented such thematic concerns as the legacy of the Industrial Revolution, the impact of worldwide epidemics, the explosion of new imagery of our planet from satellite imagery, immigration, borders, and the changes on Main Streets everywhere as we experience shifting and uncertain economic global markets. Artists have given powerful visual expression to the tensions, challenges, and opportunities of our present moment.
