.. iWork online is in beta, and doesn't allow you to edit documents online, only view them, it's total garbage. And Microsoft Office Live Workspace is free.

sorry for my stupidity but i thought the owner of google was B.Gates?

i think MS is doing this so their current customers don't move else where.

minWin and WinFS look great as well and seem to be unique from MS, too bad they don't always give the go ahead for dev's.

yes they put the popular features in their products. I am sure they had many great ideas for features in each product, but they don't put them in their right away. its nice to have full compatibility in any product. its a good reason why I use the VLC player, it works with many formats. also the 123 player, mplayer.

Really? So if I create an .odt in OO and send it through it should just works?

That's how MS does thing, it doesn't matter if they are the last to have it, as long as they have it and grabs as much market share and control as they can. That's their business model.

He said: "The office suite this is packaged with is $400. Now OpenOffice and GoogleDocs are FREE. So I can do everything with that $400 suite for FREE except make good powerpoints."
This is wrong and misleading for many reasons. One of which is that the only missing feature from Office Web Powerpoint is video editing.
He is also implying that Office Web is only sold as a package. Why even mention the package, or the $400, when you don't have to buy it? Why not compare apples to apples?

The " problem" with Open Office is that there are some functions that you have to add in separate files like some search in spreadsheet, but once you understands that, everything is possible.

he didnt say you HAVE to buy office software? hes talking about if you want a legal version of ms's office suite you have to buy it.
I thought Office 2010 online was free. Why are you saying it's $400?
Also, isn't the point of Office 2010 the online collaboration of Word, Excel, etc.. in real time with multiple users? Also, the access when not at your computer?
Also, don't confuse corporate with small business guys like me that purchase their own software. Small business makes up about 50% of the U.S. economy.

WRONG!!! You don't have to purchase ANY office software.
You need to make another video admitting your mistake. This is a major flub on your part. It only takes a 10 second Google search to prove you wrong.

Nope thats for the Ad supported version and it only includes powerpoint word and excel to get the full version youhave to buy the $400 office suite. Also i the future they are rumors you'll need a paid live account to run it the Beta is free.

They were competing before Chrome, and MS has always said they were working on the internet and search (ie. live search, msn search, etc). Get your facts bro.
