DDR East German Techno Anthem

Scenes from the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic) or DDR (GDR), a socialist state which existed between 1949 - 1990.

This is a techno version of the national anthem "Auferstanden aus Ruinen", composed by Hanns Eisler with lyrics originally written by the poet Johannes R. Becher (they were dropped and reinstated at various points in East Germany's existence depending on the political climate!).

It amazes me the ignorance of Americans, Not only do they feel they single handed won world war 1 and 2, but they think West Germany didn't rape our East German economy. Take out the Stasi, or at least lessen them, and replace the Wall with a fence and the DDR would have been fine as an independent state. The people were betrayed.

Jahrelang haben wir hier in Westdeutschland immer nur die angeblich bösen Scenen in der Deutschen Demoktatischen Republik in die Augen und Ohren bekommen. Da war soviel Schönes, besonders in der kulturellen Eigenart der DDR, dass in Westdeutschland schon immer unbekannt war, und heute noch unbekannt ist, obwohl wir öffentlicherweise unsere politischen Unterschied schon lange begraben haben. Es ist eine Schande!
