In 2006, an English watch collecting friend asked me to introduce his daughter, Kat Mansoor, to the world of independent watchmakers. After a few days of visit and interviews in Switzerland, Kat, Will Hood and Adam Lavis, the co-founders of a small film production company called Animal Monday, decided to write a scenario for a documentary featuring Philippe Dufour and Vianney Halter, and submit it in an annual competition run by the British Film Council. They won and the prize was funding to produce the documentary.
Five days of filming in the Jura in Switzerland was meticulously edited down to 10 minutes and became "Timepiece". This is not just a superb documentary about a couple of talented independent watchmakers, it is a superb documentary period!
