C'est l'extase langoureuse is the first song from a set of six entitled Ariettes oubliées. They are set to poetry by Verlaine, who was a poet of the symbolist movement, using subtle suggestion to evoke moods and feelings through the words. This song is rich and sensual in emotion, using forest imagery as metaphor for deep romance and passion. "It is the langourous ecstasy, it is the amorous fatigue, all the tremors of the forest in the breeze's embrace."

Kiyomi Hori, soprano
3rd year classical voice major at Vancouver Community College
Accompanied by Eric Hominick
