Jumping from the amazingly good NES version to the SNES, this remake was absolutely marvellous. You didnt even need to be a Star Wars fan (but then again, who isn't?) to enjoy this. Developed by Sculptured Software and Lucasarts, its not only a quite challenging platform run and gun game, but also has some variety mode 7 levels, such has the landspeeder bits or the X-Wing assault on the Death Star. And somehitng that instantly jumps out from the TV and grabs you, is the sound, not only the SFX, but the perfect redemption of Johh Williams original score for the movie, showing off just how powerfull the Sony made SPC700 sound chip really was. Re-release on Wii Virtual Console in America on 10-8-2009.

  • this game is hard lol i cant get past the level where your in the Sand Crawler...i think the 3rd level lol i fail

  • This game was hard as hell I allways lost at the Bar in the desert planet.17 now had the game cuz of my dad.

  • god i always got to the last level and never figured out how to use your proton torpedo...so i kept playing the last level over n over again...never beat this game......it was fun though

  • I talked to this game's composer Paul Webb and he said that for this game he actually got the original handwritten music from John Williams!

  • @usnbernd

Look up the debug mode code for the snes. Use this to "save" your progress by starting on the level you left off at. You can also change your number of lives, checkpoint for a particular stage, and your current weapon.

  • i remember playing this when i was like 7, im fourteen now, and how hard it was. its VERY nostalgic for me

  • When Star Wars games didn't suck ass.

I always found weird how in some old games in the demo play in the intros the character behaved as if it was controlled by a very bad AI moving in a nonsensical pattern. I suppose it was programed and not recorded from real gameplay.
