The last few minutes of a late 1986 airing of "Inside the NFL" on HBO. My parents started the VCR a little early in anticipation of an airing of "Robin Williams: Live at the Met," and I found this, as well as several promos I'm also uploading.

Nick and Len are going over their Week 15 predictions (which leads me to believe this was November 1986).

And this is followed by one of the weirdest uses of barbarian footage I've ever witnessed.

This "Weird Footage" is outtakes of the Cleveland Browns. If anyone has any information on this video during the closing credits, let me know - its so funny!!!

Thanks to ericcollins81:

"In 1986, the Cleveland Browns did a video called "Masters of the Gridiron." it was like a spoof of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," which as you know was very popular at that time. They basically I guess wanted to do a video like the '85 Chicago Bears did. The premise of the video is a group of warriors played by Cleveland Browns members as they go on a quest to get that elusive ring. (meaning super bowl title). As you know they are still trying to get their first title since 1964. If you want to see the video just type in the search box masters of the gridiron. it is broken into two parts. I hope I explained what that footage was. ps. its pretty cheezy."

The tape was a bit jumpy at the beginning - damn old tapes and even older VCRs they were taped on!

You're correct in the description about your assumption that this was from 1986 since at 3:37 there's a promotion for the upcoming Super Bowl XXI which would've been played at the conclusion of the season starting in 1986.

  • Awesome - I figured that was when it was from!

  • This was a classic. My brother and I used to wait all week to see Inside the NFL before ESPN really became popular. Luv it. Thank You

  • You're welcome - thanks for watching!

  • thanks! talk about bringing back memories.... wow!

  • Glad you liked it - The viewership on this has gone up alot this past week, but that's probably because this aired 23 years ago last weekend...

I love the response to this video. Here's to finding things on tapes by accident!

  • This is when Inside The NFL WAS Inside The NFL. Buoniconti and Dawson, that's it. Great highlights-I remember those days of The Raiders and Broncos in the mid-late '80s. Plus the Giants! Those were the days! :-)

  • Classic old school.Nothing beats 80's sports.

  • What happened to your Inside the NFL superbowl show?

  • @CLumz100 Most of the world's countries has soccer competition and thats it. So thats why they love it so much. If I lived in Iran or India I would love soccer too because thats all I would know right? Real Talk! I'm not talking smack I'm stating facts about the rules of the games in American football and Soccer. You said that I sound like what Whites did to Black people in America and you said "y'all". Whats the point of that? Thats a bad analogy yo.

  • @madrecka thats cool dawg see most of the people in the world don't even know what hockey or the nfl is, and more than 90% of the World loves soccer. But you my friend being a black dude and talking shit without knowing is like what whites did to yall in America. YOU FEEL ME! To NOT be ignorant you have to try to understand! See I've watched NFL games I kinda like the patriots but it pisses me off how they have to stop every 5 seconds! In soccer a foo gets injured and thats it. the game keeps go

  • @CLumz100 is like in the 2nd or 3rd tier sport. Even hockey gets my respect over soccer.

  • @CLumz100 No thanks! I tried watching soccer with an open mind back in 1994 when the World Cup came to LA and I felt like I was waisting time with no one scoring, no hitting, no one running over someone, and just endless running and running but 0-0 scores. That put a bad taste in my mouth regarding soccer. If you like that your choice and you have that right. Yes, soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but here in the US we have American football, basketball, baseball, etc. Soccer(con)

  • @madrecka You can also get that in soccer believe or not. Maybe you've been watching the wrong matches. Major League Soccer is kinda boring you should watch European football and see all the crazy shit they do with the ball. I'm not trying to convince you to like soccer. I just want you to know a little bit more about it before you judge it. You feel me? And, yeah; I feel you!

  • @CLumz100 scoring and its just players running around for 90 mins or more just kicking a ball. We Americans need more excitement and physical contact. You feel me?

  • @CLumz100 each play is over. Imagine American Football players playing with no whistle had all with the full speed contact, hitting, tackling and blocking how can they play without a clock or whistle? They would severely injure each other and nearly kill one another if they had the same rule as soccer. Wouldn't you agree? The sport that you like its hardly any contact except for players nearly colliding trying kick the ball. Wouldn't you agree? Soccer there hardly isn't any (con)

  • @CLumz100 My first comment was about me making fun of soccer or association football that you call it. You called me ignorant because you didn't like what I said but we all have our right to our opinion. Ok that makes sense that Spanish speaking ethic groups and nations would pronounce soccer "futbol" instead of "football. I've learned something new. Both sports have different rules so thats the reason American Football has clock stoppage and the referees blow the whistle after (cont)

  • @madrecka I didn't use any racial slurs! I was simpy showing you how ignorant YOUR first comment was and compared it to the stereo type, which is also ignorant.

-No, soccer is officially called Association Football, or just Football also known as soccer, and spanish speaking countries pronounce it futbol. Unlike other sport in Football you don't need to add the Rugby or American on it in front of the word football, since it is the real football.

-I seen d nfl and its cool but too many stops
