Grace Jones - Autumn Leaves

Grace Jones' version of popular French jazz song, originally Les Feuilles Mortes, written by Jacques Prévert. Song is released as a first single from her second album "Fame", 1978. Tune is also sung by many famous artists, such as Jo Stafford (original), Yves Montand (1946, from the motion picture Les Portes de la Nuit), Edith Piaf (1950, in French and English), Nat King Cole (1956, from the film of the same name, starring Joan Crawford), Eva Cassidy (1996, from the album Live at Bleus Alley), Roger Williams (1955, US #1, the only piano instrumental to reach number one) and the others.

Grace sure can sing -but, to be honest, the vocals on this particular song is not impressive: the arrangement is way cool, but the vocal track sounds as if it were a demo. Well, we all have bad days. Paula Cole did an amazing recording on the soundtrack to 'Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil'. And Ediths version is strong.
