Big Cat Diary expert Saba Douglas Hamilton is in Africa filming the elephants of Samburu when she finds a starving calf in need help. The team then try to capture the baby elephant by hand in an attempt to drive it to the safety of an orphanage for emergency re-nourishment. Great wildlife clip from BBC show 'Elephants of the Samburu'.

  • awesome ...

  • why are they trying to capture it when its herd is right there

  • lol that cute little thing is so fast!

  • why is the cute big ears sticking out

  • I don't think that this should be broadcasted. The fact that ratings could potentially influence a decision on wether or not to initiate a "rescue", who should be in charge and how one could get the best shots of it is not an ideal situation.

  • OMG it looks so tiny, even though it probably weighs about as much as my fridge. Poor thing.

  • That baby elephant is soooo cute!

  • Bless Saba, true friend of the elephants.

  • @bibi14930 If you watched the whole video at the end she explains that she didn't realize how old the calf was and that they are going to wait for the vet.

  • @charlieisgone Dead, infortunatly
