Ghoti Hook One Step Away (with Lyrics) - Music Devotion

Have you ever stood at the doorway knowing that the next step would dramatically change a life? Sadly true in the authors case, it appears his father stood in the doorway and walked out on him. We share this pain with him as he recalls holding his fathers hand and watching his father, knowing things are not alright at home. We know this causes great pain because as an adult, the author of this song is still expressing it.

Too often we men want to quit on our families. We quit on the promises we made to our brides we should cherish and protect. When we give up on that obligation, we also cause serious damage to our children. Deep rooted pain that never goes away.

We know every day will not be easy raising children but it in the end it will be rewarding. Our presence as fathers makes a huge impact in our childrens lives, despite what we are told in our current culture. We are called by God to not only be there but to teach them all about God.

You shall love the LORD you God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Deuteronomy 6.5-7

fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord
Ephesians 6.4

We are to teach our children to have great respect for God and for them to do the same for their children one day.

May God turn our hearts toward Him, drawing the fathers of our day to honor our commitments to our families and to God.

And to those whose lives have been affected by these dads, remember God is and always will be a Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68.5)!
