  • Look at the reverence for the Holy Eucharist compare to today. Communion in the Hand and Eucharistic ministers destroyed the Faith.

  • Such a very solemn/majestic ceremony! Just looking at the way the holy sacrifice was done back then and at least trying to compare it to now makes me weep inside for God's mercy. What has happen to Jesus' house?!?

  • @EphesiansChapter5 It was made a den of thieves.

  • And removing the Communion rail encourages the faithful to stand rather than to kneel, which is the proper way to receive Holy Communion. Notice how our current Pope has requested that his communicants kneel and receive on the tongue. If the Blessed Sacrament is to be handled with such reverence by the priest at Benediction, wearing the humeral, then it is completely improper for the faithful to touch the Blessed Sacrament with their bare hands.

  • What a solemn sacrifice of the Mass. . .

  • Pray the Holy Father will offer this liturgy once again for the faithful who love this form of worship..40 years seems too long..

  • It has not destroyed the faith but it gave most people the impression that the Eucharist is something of less importance. Just look at the way churchs are built now.

  • The Tridentine liturgy is very much alive and well. Have you heard of Pope Benedict XVI's Moto Propio Summorum Pontificum?

  • I think it is wonderful historical footage of the Blessed. Liturgy very "all over the place". I am not quite sure they know what they are doing or going to do next. This was typical of the old Roman Liturgy, however, I agree, that something was lost, but when our loved ones die we also lose. Life is about loss and more loss. Nostalgia can be sweet or it can be stagnation or depression. So many beautiful customs in life have gone besides he liturgy.

  • I would also say that turning the altars around had something to do with the loss of faith and the loss of the sacred.

  • Yes, they reverence and respect it so much that only those at the altar even receive.

So there has been loss since then, but there has also been gain.
