Daphne is now five years old and doing great! She flies, eats great! Loves her aviaries and cage. She once got out and saw the world overnight and came back next day do to her recall/flight training. I would not recommend ducorps for anybody. She is now grown up and crazy cockatoo that needs ALOT of attention!

I would LOVE to have a bird like this. The problem is I don't have the money or time to take care of it. I'm a shopaholic, and I'm always at school.

Maybe some other time, when I'm more responsible.

I loved your comment! At least you know you don't have the dedication. She is 24 hours a day....And not sweet like this anymore lol...She's three now and is very independent...I like it! Most wouldn't ....

Ducorps' Cockatoo babies just whine. It isn't because they need anything or because they are hungry, they just whine. It will stop magically one day when they are anywhere between a year or two of age. This is completely natural behavior for the species and to try and control it will cause more damage than good. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they are hungry or nervous or scared...they just whine!

@scorpianofthesun Would love it if more people had your attitude regarding owning pets. They have a right to love, respect and care, and your comment is refreshing. I have a 5yo Australian Sulpher Crested Cockatoo, named Finbar, and he is a much loved and involved member of our family. He is sweet, gentle, funny and amazing company, and well worth the full time job of being his mum. He requires the same attention as a small child, so it is something to seriously think about.

aww she is so adorable. I have a goffin that whined too when she was a baby and it sure melts your heart, lol. My all time favorite birds, the cockatoos.

Id like to have a big bird like this, but I too can not afford one or the large cage it would need, time isnt much of an issue, I spend a lot of time with my animals now... Its just a money thing.

I do have two cockatiels though! =D
