yes it was called 12 star final. i was too young to remember but my dad told me about it. and it just so happens that i work at ksat now ans have seen the old films and it was wierd watching them. dead bodies being taken out of cars. this one accident a mother and daughter got ejected from the car in a crash. it was kinda morbid.

I don't know how old you are but you sound pretty on top of it so ill ask you. KSAT had a real raw and edgy newscast in the late 70's early 80's i think called 12 star finish or something like that? With all the murders and gore and bodies being carried away? RIGHT? ANYONE? I know it existed.

KPRC also used "Live, Local, Late Breaking" as a secondary slogan around that time.

Well hey, your addiction has proven highly useful. :)

W00t, look at you with all of your knowledge re: local news, you hot stuff you! Glad you agree re: "Local 12", Leslie Mouton (so classy -- she *is* Debora Daniels' rightful heir), and Steve Browne (though I understand he's a jerk IRL), and thanks once more for all your insightful information!

Yeah, I thought Local 12 sounded retarded and dumb. So it's good they went back to KSAT 12. One other station(WJXT-Jacksonville, FL) don't use the "Local Mandate"-they brand as Channel 4-THE Local Station. And yes, this is when they first started using Live, Local, Latebreaking. Oh and btw, Leslie Mouton is a good anchor and Steve Browne is the Alamo City's best forecaster. That's all

THAT'S the word I was trying to think of -- yes, it's "local" instead of "live", sorry, and thanks for correcting that. Yeah, I remember the "Local 12" branding very, very well. I thought it sounded lame and was glad to see it return to "KSAT 12", which flows more smoothly IMO. BTW, I feel now as though I should be listening to Steve Spriester or Leslie Mouton talk right after this bit ends. It doesn't feel right otherwise.

Actually, they have to work the "Local" angle on their slogans somehow. For a short time in 2004 they followed their Post-Newsweek sisters and branded as "Local 12", but they shortly went back to "KSAT 12" after that.
Ooh, "Live, local, latebreaking" -- this is probably when it all got started. That's still the tagline for KSAT 12 -- isn't it because all Post-Newsweek TV news entities have to work in the "live" angle on their slogans somehow? Anyway, you rule for having all these KSAT clips on your profile. I *heart* KSAT and no other station will do for me.
