In this video, part 2 of my Blender 2.6 series, I explain and demo how to customize Blender's UI, and how to save your window layouts and saved preferences. I also fix the 'numpad problem' so that the Number Row acts as keyboard shortcuts for the 3D View window.

hey, I was wondering if there's a way to zoom and pan around without using a mouse scroll button because I'm using a laptop and wont have a mouse for a couple weeks. A reply would be much appreciated, thanks for these great tutorials btw!

I mouse with a wheel-button really is necessary - so I'm glad you will have one down the road! If you have a numpad, you can use the 4/6/8/2 keys to orbit your scene. I'm not sure about panning, but you can zoom with ctrl-+. You can make your number row act like the numpad too in preferences with 'emulate numpad' checked.

Blender is a great tool to learn 3D modelling either for animation, effects, or game design. 3D models made in Blender can be exported and used in popular game engines, and Blender even has its own built-in game engine!

2.67 is evil evil, they renamed "Save User Settings" to "Save Startup File", but all manuals refer to the "Save User Settings" which is gone.
