Homeowners' Rights: Property, Contracts and HOAs. You may own it, but if youre one of nearly 60 million Americans living in communities run by homeowners'associations—you may find you dont have the freedom to do everything you would like on your own property. Homeowners' associations are nonprofit organizations formed to manage common areas in a neighborhood, or community. They keep the area neat and clean, provide security and recreational facilities, and maintain streets. But critics say the enforcement practices of some associations are stepping on homeowners' rights, with foreclosure ability being their most controversial power. While some say it is a critical tool in their operation, others feel it has been taken too far. What are we truly buying when we purchase a home? What rights do we have? How much control should an HOA have? And where should the line be drawn? i never signed a hoa contract.i purchased my home through a fha forecloser.when the hoa guy came around,i already owned.he wanted me to sign,but i never did.they have a mandatory hoa here.i pay the hoa dues,but i write UNDER PROTEST-AND THAT I AM NOT A HOA MEMBER on receipt and check stub.i closed on my home,with no hoa agreement in mortgage contract,and was not awawre of the hoa till 3 months living in home.they are crooks,even when you do not sign.

@beer19711971 you're not a home owner. you're a financial dependent, therefore your rights are limited when you signed their contract. Wisdom - don't join an HOA.

well ,if any body knows who can come out and start a petition to my hoa,send them to the wynchase crossing hwy 148 crandall tx 75114.if we try to act on our own,the hoa will find a way to harm us

as long as we allow these type of organizations to operate.the south will still live in the civil war era.every time the united states stopped private organizations to control people and violate there rights,another comes up.but the hoa is the most dangerous band of people.because the government has made it legal to bully our neighbors.we must stop purchasing homes in a hoa area,and put those areas as a risk to every person lokking to settle down and have a home/because you will never own it.

@beer19711971 : I think we can if you get 70% of home owner to sign a petition. i live in TX too and i have problem with my HOA, we got rid of them but there is group of home owner acting in their place now which we are fighting them too. but don't take my words for it. ask others .

hoa is the biggest scam ever invented in mans history.you cant fight them,but you can refuse to pruchase homes in hoa communities.dont do it,stay american!my hoa is wynchase crossing,crandall tx.

Google Texas Residential Property Owners Protection Act...most deed restrictions have to follow these guidelines, I have fought my HOA and won! Had fined me $1000 for cutting down a tree! These HOA boards are just petty power tripping control freaks

this lady on the video is wonderfull.and you can see the hoa lawyer smile,because he knows that no matter how hard she fights for the working man or woman,the hoa will still get to steal and steal legal.hoa is a legalized mofia,and once the american people realize,then the hoa will be no more.we a coveting hoa in crandall texas called wynchase crossing.
