Kim Jong-il probably told the people of North Korea that the swimming pool was his latest invention.

Lol, if you peed in the water .. I can't imagine what punishments one would get.

I like this propaganda: first, they do something and, then, they say that "they did it". That´s reasonable!—I love it!
On the other hand, everything these capitalist imperialist agents want, is that DPRK starts obeying their bosses´ orders..., but they won´t; they are not capitalist slaves like many western countries are. DPRK is a sovereign country and has real knowledgeable people and honest leaders; no, they are not dictators, because they are not imperialists, like american leaders are.

North Korea is the ultimate archetype of a communist draconian state: like Stalin's Russia or Auscwicz, the best, the honest, the generous, are the first gone---all that is left are sycophantic slaves--all trying to outdo one another --- "Save me, oh great leader, no problem dooming my children and descendants into a slave's hell---just protect ME!. I don't know what sort of dogs bred li'l sung and jongdong....but their litter should have been put to sleep at birth.

Ok, hands up those of you who thought about taking a piss in the poolwater!

@Galv140577 exactly. those who are defending the regime should look at video taken without the approval of the NK government. This looks great, but it is propaganda and doesn't reflect the actual lives of people in NK.

@saizobacon just look at the difference between North Korea and South Korea in terms of standards of living, and it is a world of difference.

@scoppy80 China got the way it did by adopting pro-market policies and becoming the factory of the world. North Korea is attempting to isolate themselves completely. North Korea doesn't have a well educated populace, it also has horrible long term effects from the malnutrition that swept the country for a decade and is still reeling from the disastrous policies of Kim Jong Il. This is a beautiful facility, but is is only enjoyed by a very small subset of the country.

I don't think it is that we have this impression that North Korea as a whole is poor (although there are poor people in NK). It is more like we get the impression that the people are oppressed. NK is considered to be a third world country in terms of political and civil rights. Their people are also fed government propaganda their whole lives. So can NK become powerful? Yeah. Do we want them to? No. Who the hell wants North Korea's 'values' to spread? Not me.
Let's push Kim Jong il in the pool!

Do a search on "Kim il sung" all you get is propaganda saying how great he was. The evil sick mass-murdering extremely cruel despotic totalitarian dictator's legacy lives on, and North Korea is still the cruelist most evil place on Earth. Millions are starving, brainwashed to death, and suffering the unimagineable nightmare equivalent of George Orwell's psychological horror novel "1984" brought to life in full gruesome colour 3-D actuality.
