The excavating egypt exhibition, is running through June 14, 2009 at the Univ. of Ky Art Museum in the Singletary Center in Lexington highlights the work of the father of modern archaeology, William Matthew Flinders Petrie (1853-1942).
Many believe the Indiana Jones movies are based on Petrie's work. If so, he was the real McCoy. Hundreds of artifacts are on display including a mummy cartonnage case wrapping, a sarcophagus or outer coffin, jewelry, pottery, a sheet from the book of the dead with a double curse written on papyrus, artwork, the oldest known beaded dress on earth, and scores of other ancient objects.
These are the artifacts of the ancesters of the people who the Hebrew prophet, Moses, interacted with.
