  • Im not sure I want to put my ps3 in danger. Mabey you should ask Sony and not use your theoretical knowledge to decide wether it good or bad for your system and not take chances.

  • IF YOUR GOING TO DO THIS, MAKE SURE THE SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF, TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN IN MID-AIR, NO DISK IN THE DRIVE, TURN IT ON.

When your done, turn it off, then spin it back round.

  • @TheVGGP If the system was heating up as a result of being suspended upside down, then the fans will take more than a couple of seconds to start slowing down after the system is placed back into it's intended position, instead the fans slow down within 5 seconds, if the system was really overheating, like after a hardcore gaming session, once you go back into xmb, it takes several minutes for the fans RPM to drop, whereas that is not the case, use a thermal probe to see, it's not overheating.

  • @legend4rygun so its not really a fan test. and heat still does rise. and i doubt its a fail safe. it just speed up as it gets hot.

  • @TheVGGP No, that's incorrect, the positive airflow due to the motion of the fan which is more faster acting than convection means that convection occurs far more slowly, the pressure of the airflow maintains constant flow, the fans increase as the system thinks its placed upside down and thus the vents are blocked. Fail safe incase some stupidly placed the system upside down. You should't move your ps3 around because you can damage the HD or a spinning disk in the drive.

  • @legend4rygun This doesn't damage the ps3, you can't choke an electric device, as long as you don't purposely block the vents and place it down, then its fine. Sony or any other company for that matter don't put self destruct features into there devices.

  • @lewishague123 Lol, the reason the ps3 fan speeds up is due to a fail safe, if someone stupidly placed the ps3 upside down, then the vents are blocked, the fans speed up to factor in the fact that the vents may be blocked and another thing is the user will inevitably realise that something is wrong when the fans kick into such high RPM. Sony aren't stupid, they tell you not to do this because you can damage the hard drive or a disk if it is spinning at that time.

  • Heat rises and then it overheats the system make the fan run faster. so its not good.

  • cunt
