Holy shoot! This was tattooed in my brain when I was 3ish!

I had the monsters record when I was little and the song was 5 monsters in my family.

I use to sing this song all the time. Sesame Street was a no miss to me back when I was a "weed hopper". The best teachers around after mom and pop. Keep Keepin On....Sesame Street Forever.,,,,,and Ever and Ever and Ever and Ever. you know the rest...nighty night world.

THANK YOU! I loved this song as a child because I had 5 people in my family too. The fact that it was "a sister, and two brothers, and a mother and a pop," reinforced my center of the world thinking.

Alas, I grew up. Reality.

But thanks for the touchstone moment. Yes, this was sadly left off of the 1st Classic collection.

I didn't know they showed this as five monsters in the nineties. I did have a Sesame Street monsters tape as a kid which had this as "Five Monsters in My Family", and I heard that before I heard this.

I had a book too. It was shaped, and If you flipped it over, it had the "five monsters" version. Another comment said something about the 5 monsters being from the 90s, but at least in book version it was around at least from the 70s.

Unbelievable. I have not ssen this in thirty years. I have 5 people in my family too. Me, my two brothersa and our mom and dad.
