This is not the history of the Highborne... the Highborne is just another name for a Night elf mage. This is about the High Elves... big difference, as High Elves are Night Elves who used too much magic and were transformed, or the children of those who transformed.

1.most Highborne died during Sundering, some became undead.

2.some escaped with Tyrande and later became High Elfs

3.Some survived in Dire Maul and are gonna rejoin Nelfs in Cataclysm

4.Some became the first satyrs together with Xavius

5.Some became Naga together with Azshara

6. ALL of these groups ARE of Highborne descend and often consider themselves Highborne

Read war of the ancients right after that "The High Elves of Quel-Thalis" the High Elves became blood elves, the Satyrs were High-Elves twisted by their own magic. Example from Hyjal Blackhorn looks like a Satyr but he was a Night elf. Also Queen of the Kel-dorei became Naga Queen. Dirtytimmy is right.

@avuge77 yes in wow today Night Elf mages are high born but they do have other classes as well, the High Elves are the Highborn that ssided with the Night Elf and other races that fought against the Burnning Legion that were exiled because they wanted to use arcaine
