Our Rotorua train train with the Capital Connection carriages was hauled with Overlander make an impressive and unusual sight from Auckland to Hamilton in Feb 2002. Here you see the EF electric loco hook up to the Overlander the DCs unhook and depart. You will notice that the majority of carriages have been removed by the time the Overlander departs.

  • I'm not too sure about the details, but I'm pretty sure it varies. I can't remember it being this high through Te Rapa amongst other places.

  • Cantenary is really high in NZ isn't it? I just noticed that the pantograph is really stretched up high. Is there a reason for this because compared to Europe it appears to be a long way off the carriages.
