Just a quick overlay of Google Earth imagery on to an old aerial photograph of Vanport City, OR. (Vanport City was built in 1943 to house workers in shipyards and was destroyed by flooding just five years later.) It is now the site of the Portland International Raceway.
(I just visually matched the images with Photoshop's "distort" tool-- it's not perfect, but close enough to see the remnants of the old town in the Google image.)
my dad was home from over seas and they had an aptment there
Mom's Dad lived in Camas so the day of the flood everything they could get in car ( me & peanuts the dog) we headed for the bridge to Vancouver the 3rd car behind us the bridge was closed and no one else could cross
