Bypass pruners are the best, but gotta whip out the shears witht he boxwoods. i like to cut out the top part of a holly below the lateral branches.. to hide the hard pruning. Directing growth is the key. But it think a natural boxwood looks better than a pruned on. Plant a dwarf boxwood ifso u dont have to shear every year :)

These big Lop Pruners are excellent tools. PLEASE skip the power tools, they are noisey polluters that use too much energy and they can be devestating to plants. Save some money and stick to solid manual, sensible tools in the yard and garden.
