"Just because the graphics are better doesn't mean the game is better" CGRHD reviews Virtua Fighter 5 for the Playstation 3 video game console. This arcade style fighting game has punches, kicks and complex combinations just like most other 3D style fighting games like Soul Caliber and DOA2 (Dead or Alive series). In fact this has a lot in common with most fighting games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Kung Fu.

Sega made this game, and Sega always does a great job with goofy music and characters. VF5 is a fun game on the PS3 that will keep you busy for hours. Fight against numerous opponents who use different martial arts and kickboxing fighting styles, like the Ultimate Fighting Championship or Pro Wrestling... sort of. They have cage matches and hulking steroid driven-mad kind of bad guys, and chicks who flip and spin and kick just like in the movies. Some movie nods might be Enter the 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Kickboxing, Bloodsport, Shoulin Dolemite, Hard to Kill and Supercop (just to name a few)

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The HD series is reviewing PS3, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. Xbox Live Arcade XBLA.

  • @Pr1meraEspada: Don't waste your time talking to Tekken fanboys. Most of them don't even realize how much skill this game takes. Just let them drown into their own delusional world that they're in.

Plus, I bet he can't even complete Akira's command list.

  • @GuSz2 No... this game takes skill. So this game ain't for you, son.

  • Tekken is more accessible, and button mashing do work to a certain extent and there is quite a bit of flash, but that doesn't mean there isn't debth to be found or that there isn't a difference between a masher and a skilled player. VF certainly requires more just to get into the game properly.

But does that make one better or worse than the other?

    I don't think so.

  • @GuSz2 both the Tekken and Virtua Fighter series are both some of the best fighting games ever

  • @EkajTheSwordsman the ps3 also has online play, and it's FREE

  • how is Qbert a femine name?

  • I love tekken (don't take me as a tekken fanboy), but how much skill does this game take. I played the demo and it was pretty easy, but with the full game, is it DOA4 type skill or DOAU2 Type skill.

  • listen son I've been playing tekken since 2000 and I ditched it for virtua fighter because it has less juggling and is more realistic now.

fuck tekken have fun playing street fighter x tekken throwing fireballs and shit you cock suckers

  • I loved this game, it was my first fighter on the current gen systems. I truly regret trading it in, if I can ever find it for a reasonable used price I'll definitely pick it up again. Amongst sf4, blazblue and tekken 6, it had much better single player replayability. Oh well, now to move onto SCV, I hope CGR won't take long to review it!

  • @Vega249 I've played tekken for a while, and it is surprising how many flaws it has, and the Tekken fans completely deny them. Even the old ones were pretty bad

  • i like tekken but never tried this game is it really that good?

  • I still don't get how this crap can have fans.Tekken ftw!!!
