On the 29/11/11 55022 hauled 'The Scotsman' from Worcester SH to Perth. At 05.17, two minutes down, RSG stormed through Bromsgrove station at the foot of the Lickey Incline. The Driver wasn't hanging around!

The opening footage lets you hear RSG approaching, to be fair the video sound doesn't do justice to the volume and lovely sound it really made.

I thought it would be TnT; but 57601 was, I assume, DIT. I hope you enjoy.

  • That appoaching sound is amazing.

    Excellent video.

  • @allan5919 Well worth the early start, thanks for the comment.

  • That's a great bit of footage, a brilliant way to break the early morning silence too! Its quite spooky the way it can be heard from a long way off, and yet is so invisible! Brilliant!

  • @Jaymzhatstand I was really pleased with the way it turned out, that driver was getting to the top of the Lickey!! It was strange being there, you could hear it coming and coming and then...gone! Thanks very much for the comment.

  • Lovely shot there sir.

  • @vorlonb3 Cheers, glad you enjoyed it.

  • Really wonderful stuff, I am lucky to have witnessed a nearly identical scene and filmed 55022 from that same spot back in September. Really amazing as you hear her accelerate from droitwich!

  • another nice shot mate

  • absolutely fantastic.......showing why the deltic is the true king of the rails. well worth the early start for you.

  • Wonderful. There are Deltics and then there are the rest. Beautiful soundtrack, nice edit too. Check the classical dip in the engine note at 55 seconds as she goes through a field divert. Great stuff, your efforts fully justified!

  • Brilliant Napier sounds and I love the carriage window reflections as the train approaches - all very atmospheric. Tony

  • 05.17....You must be mad Keith, well worth it though...excellent performance dom RSG with a little help from the 47 no doubt....Bob

  • @wattass7 I thought the early morning would give a good sound and it did! I cut about another 45 seconds of sound, as I thought it would be too much. Great loco, many thanks for the comment.
