I have been coping with Crohn's colitis since 1975. Having the disease affects every aspect of my life. I am so glad I am married to someone who cares enough about me to stay by my side through it all. We have a hobby in common - we are in the SCA. Having crohn's colitis sure makes going to Pennsic a real trip, but I'm proof it can be done. I wish you the best in your battle, nobody truly understands who has not walked the same path. Thinking healthy thoughts your way.

I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease October 19th 2009. It took Doctors 7 months and various tests before i got the diagnosis.
Prior to May 2009 I weighed 207lbs (15st/95kg) - by the time i was diagnosed i weighed 114lb(8st/50kg)
Despite taking Pentasa and Imuran, I still get the cramps and diarrhea, i constantly feel tired and have virtually no appetite and can barely go an hour without needing the toilet, yet i am trying to keep on with my life, I now weigh 145lb (10st/66kg)

hi friends,
i´m a medical student, and i have CU myself.
i am very curious about your experiences on nutrition and psychological work-up.
it´s difficult staying with food-change longer than a week without an encouraging specialist when not feeling a change onself ...
i like to know from the ones who tried strict food-change for longer than 2 weeks, WHAT you tried, if it helped, when, AND if you have had any laboratory tests on gluten-sensitivity or allergy at all.
please send me a message

I dont know if I have it, but my stomach is really swollen and I am in a ton of pain all the time. The only thing I have found that helps so far is a heating pad or shot of vodka, probably not the best thing, but still looking for more permanent relief, any suggestions?

My daughter became very ill when she was eighteen. Until then, she was very muscular; athletic. At twenty, she is still very beautiful but skinny -- no longer the rough and ready girl -- more delicate. You mentioned the darkness under the eyes. At her sickest, her eye orbits were so dark. She said she felt like Syd Barrett. She is doing better on the whole -- main problem now is fistulas. Once they start, it is surgery after surgery -- next one due in January. She may lose her colon.
A want to thank everyone who has emailed me thus far chronicling their own stories and background. Please feel free to comment, email, lets talk.
