Very novel way of doing it! It makes sense to impart the curve while it is still very soft. No stresses that way!

Nancy - I tried this method because I was having trouble getting that 'arch' and so far, the mugs look awesome! Hopefully there will be no cracking, but so far, so good!

Thank you! I hope this helps you get those handles. I love doing handles but hated it when I first started with the lay the handle over the tube thing.

I'm glad this helped you. If you make sure your mug is not too leather hard you shouldn't have a problem. If mine are I just throw a bag over the piece and let it sit overnight and then uncover...normally don't have any problem with cracking.
