@Inmate527 Mythbuntu is actually pretty much this with an extra - bloated for a simple media center with low specs - job.....recording. lol

If you want the easiest digital tuner, spend a little more money and get the silicondust HDhomerun. Easiest of all to use with LMCE

WOW!! That's A Nice Program Can You Get It Yet?

In this video, I used a pchdtv 5500. It's supposed to be analog and digital, but I don't recommend using it for analog. It works well as a stand alone in LMCE, but not with multiple tuners. I currently use the haupauge pvr500 for analog. I also recently got a haupauge 1250 for digital, but haven't tested in LMCE. Works great in mythtv

What TV Tuner card are you using? I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide which kind to get that will be compatible with LinuxMCE\Ubuntu. I'd like a hybrid card I guess, that will do digital and analog.

Yeah, you have trouble if you don't RTFM.
A car has less options than LinuxMCE, yet most people read the rules of the road and take a drivers ed course before driving.
I didn't have the troubles you did.
I thought it wasnt supposed to act as a primary media center. Isnt that the job of Mythbuntu.

Well, LMCE is able to do a lot of home automation, but the media center aspect is undeniable. You can play television, dvds, music, and photos. It can also make that media available throughout your network. That's pretty much the definition of a media center

can u stream media from say a file server with windows shares?
Dillinger128 2 years ago
Yes, LMCE, if set up properly, will automagically detect all shared media on the network and forward it to all media directors
