No room for a division of the country President 05 06 2009

President Rajapaksa has underscored that he will leave no room for a division or differences within the motherland.
The President said all are children of one mother. No communal differences exist between them. The Tamil business community should come forward to help the innocent Tamil people who had been freed from terrorism, just as the Sinhalese were today helping the displaced Tamil people. There can be no differences on community basis from now on. He said he considered that it is his duty and onus to protect the Tamil people. He added that everyone should be able to live sans fear and mistrust with equal rights. They should unite to rebuild this beautiful isle.

The President was addressing a gathering of the Tamil business community at Temple Trees. Hindu religious leaders and over 800 Tamil businessmen and representatives were present at this meeting. The Tamil community said President Rajapaksa is the only state leader who is dedicated to ushering in enduring peace.

Swamy Kali Kanagaratnam said there is no one to provide advice to the innocent Tamil people. Priests in the Hindu temples do not usually advice them. There are dhamma preachings in Buddhist temples. It is not taking place in Hindu Kovils. They have become helpless in the aspect of religion. He said a programme has to be launched for the Tamil people to make sure that differences do not prevail.

D. Easwaran pointed out that the President is their closest leader who had ever ruled. Such a gathering clearly displays his affection. Radakrishnan of the Sri Lanka Jewellery Association is of the view that the President is the only leader of the Tamil community and the entire nation. He has set an example to the entire world by wiping out terrorism from the country and assuring stable peace.
V. Thiyagarajan Pillai claimed that they are confident that the country can be developed under the Presidents leadership. They have joined hands to strengthen him.
