This is my 3-way Open Baffle speakers, with active crossovers, driven from a 6 channel Gainclone amp.
Both mids and woofers are 8''.
I am using U frame for woofers to increase bass output.

Overall a very detailed and natural sound with good bass extension without booming.
I am very pleased with the result.

I wish my cameras mic could capture the sound more accurate.

  • Full range drivers of 4'' or 4,5'' would have a problem producing lower mid frequencies in an open baffle (unless you use a very wide baffle) larger fullrange drivers 6.5'' or 8'' don' t have the high frequency extension of tweeters.

So either way, you will have to sacrifice something.

The solution i' ve used, although more complicated hasway better performance in both lower mid and high frequency extensio in a narrow baffle like this (33 cm).

  • What song?

  • @pcfxer

    Nakamoto-Georgia on my mind

    Hi,

Would you please tell me from what album? I can't find it same version.

    Thank you

  • @beurp1

    Sorry for the late response.

This was from a demo cd came from User (speaker manufacture company).

Unfortunately i have no further info about this.

  • Sounds sweeet! Which drivers are you using?

  • I am using Jamo for the tweeter and the 8'' woofer.

    Midrange is a 8'' peerless.

  • @EMFHealth Yes they are - just never accidentally play your music without setting them up first. Unless you want to explode your speakers ;p

  • @49kasey OB= open baffle, uh duh of course (must have been late).

  • @robmanueb2 My bad for not commenting on the excellent sound quality in my comment! What struck me was that open baffle (OB) designs are a simple solution for great sound on a tight budget. A choke is an inductor in series with a woofer to roll off its upper range. TB stands for Tang Band, a company that makes nice inexpensive 3" wide-range drivers that can work as a midrange-tweeter. A line array of these operating above 200hz or so with an amplified subwoofer would probably work very well.

  • @49kasey Hi I am unfamiliar with some of the terms you use. OB design, TB full range tweeter and I guess a choke is a passive crossover? Excuse my ignorance. @Zakman what brand and model crossover are you using?

  • fantastic, great design with the u frame.

  • This is an incredible sound quality, even through a limited transmission channel of the Internet (with it's compressed quality sound, etc) - just simply amazing!

I didn't know this was possible with the DIY gear - my good buddy just introduced me to this.

    Wow!

  • Doesn't sound bad. Stamped steel baskets = elcheapo speakers though:)
