Electrical arc flash blast exterior substation Cudahy WI 2003. Two apprentices electricians standing in the opening & one journeyman electrician lying on the ground. He assumed the power was off & attached a phase detector to exposed high voltage conductors, which caused the arc flash blast.

  • @chrisose 99% of all sub stations I go into have cap banks. Capacitors do not "buffer" motor starts, they are used for power factor correction.

  • Is this on? Watch Henry, I'll bet I can touch it real fast and nothing will happen!

  • If someone you really trusts tells you the circuit's dead.

    you test it anyways

  • that is sooooo Wreckless!! What ever happened to Testing/Testing your tester??

  • check out "man electrcuted on train" now thats fucking brutal

  • These guys didn't get shocked it's an electrical flash. Don't go around telling people they can touch a hot wire as long as they aren't grounded. Your basically asking someone to kill themselves. Too many dumbass's in this world, and too many dumbass's doing electrical work.

  • Yea, working on switchgear sucks. Many time there are still live control circuits in the cabinet even when the mains are off. Ungrounded systems and "grounded B" systems are still common in Milwaukee area as well. A phase rotation meter only works on live circuits though, but they have to be able to handle whatever voltage is present just like any other meter. I've seen meters explode when used on high voltage circuits. We used to work on live stuff all the time, now we rarely do.

  • new underpants please

  • i think they DID piss their pants,i know i would have.

  • STOP, DROP, ROLL HE REMEMBERED.
